Studio 61 was awarded The Peak District Environmental Quality Mark (EQM) for promoting art and crafts "made in the Peak District from The Peak District" Promoting art and crafts is still a passion and Karina is now the regional coordinator for Derbyshire for the Society of all Artists.
Established in 2005 Studio 61 has recently moved to a woodland hideaway after being open to the public for many happy years, but with more commissions & book illustrations Karina can now paint or write most days accompanied by Bruno the gallery dog.
Karina's atmospheric landscapes are often mystical, sometimes textured and always colourful.
“With a passion for walking, a love of the hills and the calling of the sea I am never short of inspiration”
Karina’s show will include recent paintings inspired by moonlight mists and moors.
Our featured maker this month is Hilary Bellamy After five years studying at S, Derby College of Art and a teaching career, Hilary is concentrating exclusively on sculpture in her Darley Abbey studio. Intrigued by the elusive hares she sees on local walks she photographs and sketches them, also using the stuffed animals and birds at Calke Abbey, as a rich source of information. Each piece is fired to 1040 degrees C and decorated using under glazes, glazes, and metallic oxides. Gold is also sometimes applied. Her work is time consuming and each piece is unique.
We look forward to welcoming you to view this stunning exhibition on throughout March we are open 10 – 5 Wed – Sun in the wonderful world heritage village of Cromford.
