Lynn is an award winning international artist, she obtained a BA honours Degree in Painting and Printmaking and also a PGCE in teaching. She paints most days working from her gallery on the fringe of the Peak District. This rural environment provides myher artistic stimulation; to translate a passion for nature onto the canvas her medium is acrylic or oils. Lynn says:
‘Nestled in the Drone valley, Derbyshire I welcome visitors to call and view my gallery & see work in progress in a relaxed and casual environment, commissions are welcome.
I exhibit in selected shows, Galleries and Outlets in and around Derbyshire, Manchester, Cheshire, North Yorkshire the Cotswolds and London. I Paint a variety of subjects including animal, floral, landscape, offering canvas giclee prints & greeting cards of many of my works.’
‘Lynne’s paintings are very popular; her animal portraits have an uncanny ability to engage the viewer. Regardless of subject matter her pictures are saturated with vivid colours and created with vigorous, uninhibited brush strokes. In many of the paintings, the animals stare out of the canvas so intently that the viewer cannot help but return their gaze and, in effect, become part of the composition.’ Mike Smith - Derbyshire Life Magazine
Josie Walter makes tableware and cooking pots in earthenware clay, which are decorated with slips and coloured glazes. Most of the pots are thrown on a traditional momentum wheel, even though many of the finished shapes are oval or rectangular.
‘The philosophy of Josie Walter is quite simple and straightforward – eating with friends and family is one of our greatest pleasures, so it makes sense to enhance that by using beautiful pots to cook and serve the food.
She is one of a growing band of ceramicists who are encouraging cooks to not simply cherish but also use handmade pots as part of everyday life.’- artsbeatamanda December 10, 2015 Ceramics, Crafts
