Maggie says ‘In the early part of my life I grew up in the North Yorkshire Moors in a large musical
family. I have, therefore, many lovely memories that combine stunning scenery with lovely sounds and it is these lasting moments that have been the reasoning behind the creation of my ‘Music of the landscape’ a series of mixed media paintings, many of which are now inspired by the beautiful Peak District countryside. Through my love of colour, texture and expressive marks I try to capture something special that takes the viewer to a place - ‘the region of my song’.

Our featured maker for the month is Chantal Kelly whose striking glass artworks have been gaining in popularity since she first showed them to the public a couple of years ago at Cromford Mills Arts and Makers Fair. Chantal a former teacher loves the almost industrial process of creating the stained glass and is never happier than in her workshop. Her designs come in a variety of guises from small hanging ornaments to large beautiful garden totems.
Cromford Studio and Gallery is open 10 – 5 pm Wed – Sun and is situated on the market place in the centre of the village.
