'I work from my studio in the Peak District where I live with my family, cat, dogs, hens and bees. My linocuts reflect my interest in nature and the immediate environment.
Observation is the core of my work, whether making a watercolour study of bullfinches feeding outside my kitchen window or carving a complex linocut block of rock formations for a background.
I studied design and illustration at Manchester Polytechnic and Reading University. For the past 20 years my work has mainly focussed on reduction method linocutting. This versatile and graphic process of relief printmaking builds up the final image in layers of ink. The block is carved away between layers to reveal the colour previously printed.
I have been a member of High Peak Artists, based in the Pavilion Gardens, Buxton, for 17 years. My linocuts have been included in national and international exhibitions and have won several awards.'
We are open from Wednesday to Sunday 10 - 5 pm.
