Carol hill is our featured artist for October.
Carol Hill is a member of the Society of Women Artists and a member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists. She is also a fully trained Adult Education teacher, and gives workshops and demonstrations to art societies in the UK and overseas as well as critiques and residential courses at Alison House in Cromford.
She has been painting since the 60’s and has always strived to capture the atmosphere of the place – be it landscape, seascape or still-life. The light stimulates her to catch the “moment in time” is what captures her imagination. She loves to paint outside as well as in the studio and the colours and tones interest her very much and loves pushing techniques and ideas to create something different and exciting.
‘I have travelled all my life and find different countries so interesting to paint, however, Derbyshire is my home and it has a unique light and atmosphere of its own, which I never tire of painting. ‘
Gillam Glass is a handmade glass business based in Nottingham and run by Michelle Gillam-Hull. She has been making jewellery and homewares for over 10 years.
She specializes in Dichroic Glass , a glass that shows two or more colours when viewed from different angles or in different lights. This is caused by a refraction of light through the metal oxides that are layered in the glass.
Overall this results in colourful and vibrant work that changes colour when you move it, perfect for making eye catching jewellery.
We look forward to welcoming you to our gallery we are open 10 – 5pm Wed – Sun.
