Well half way through the year and the art keeps coming! This month we are showcasing the work of young artist Lily Hamond who is certainly making waves already with her colourful artwork.
Lily is an artist and photographer, currently living in the beautiful village of Ashover. From a young age she had an artistic flare and is passionate about expressing herself in creative ways – whether it’s a 4m wall mural or a small piece of jewellery.
Her art teacher encouraged her to work in range of new materials, which is where she discovered her love for textural paintings and the power of colour. This theme runs throughout most of her recent work and she is always experimenting with new mediums and paints to get the effect required. She started working to commission at school whilst doing her GCSEs and A-levels, and since then has worked on portraits, abstract art and large architectural pieces.
She tends to draw inspiration from her surroundings but more recently she has been working on a collection of paintings which are a little more on the wild side….
Our featured maker is jeweller and lace maker Louise West who has just had a new book published all about Bedfordshire Lace which will be available to purchase. Louise's silver jewellery is inspired by her lace making.
The gallery is open 10 - 5 pm Wed - Sun.
