Mays featured artist is watercolourist Lesley Linley. Lesley’s artworks are predominantly landscape and waterfalls; several them depict waterfalls that are on the Isle of Skye which was her home for some years she has returned to her roots in Derbyshire and has begun work on local waterfall scenes.
‘I paint in transparent watercolour, without the use of masking fluid or body colour; this approach means that paintings take many hours to complete. Recent work is mostly mountains and waterfalls around Skye as I lived on the island until April last year. I don't just paint the large/famous waterfalls, but any that appeal to me. Some of these paintings are large and more complex works; the size and time involved in producing each piece make it impractical to paint outdoors.’
Lesley is currently working on her new book which will be published by search press. To see Lesley's work visit the gallery Wed-Sun 10 - 5 pm.
