Roger was educated at Wellingborough Grammar School and Trent Park College of Education. He has been resident in Derbyshire for 25 years, the landscape of which provides him with much of his inspiration.
He was elected a member of the Northampton Town and County Art Society in 1985 and Peak District Artisans in 2011. Roger has paintings in the collection of Derbyshire County Council, Wellingborough Borough Council, the Landmark Trust and Sir Paul Smith, as well as private collections throughout the world. Among his major exhibition credits are being selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, the Royal Watercolour Society Open and winning the Derbyshire Open Watercolour Prize on three occasions.
